Dan Black v. Kid Cudi

This track is getting a lot of love out there in cyberspace, so I figure I would jump on the spaceship as well.

Dan Black ft Kid Cudi - Symphonies (Remix)

Theophilus London

I love this song. You'll love this song.

Imagine this...
In 5 minutes, you'll be off work. Before you head home to cook dinner, walk the dog, see the girl or clean the stove, add this track to you iPod and just walk. Take 30 minutes to stroll aimlessly through the streets of whatever city you call home. With this song on repeat as your soundtrack, you'll fall in love all over again with the mundane elements of your Humdrum Town, for beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Behold!

Million Young v. Memoryhouse

Ever since I first posted about Million Young a few weeks ago, I have had the South Florida dude's blissed-out & dreamy pop tunes on heavy rotation, often while driving alone, in weather I find beautiful, or at home, late at night, with my sleepy dog at my side. Since then, I've seen other music bloggers and DJ's take a serious liking to Million Young, and added a few more of his tracks not included in the Sunndreamm EP.

Now I am finding remixes Million Young has done for other other blissed-out & dreamy pop bands, such as Memoryhouse, which makes sense, as both are on Arcade Sound Ltd.. Take a listen to a few Million Young tracks of his new Be So True EP out 1/19/10, as well as remix he did for Memoryhouse.

So much good stuff...

Million Young - Mien
Million Young - Cynthia
Million Young - Feel the Same
Memoryhouse - To the Lighthouse (Million Young Remix)

And if you missed the boat the first time around, you can download both Million Young's Sunndreamm EP and Memoryhouse's The Years EP for free RIGHT HERE.

jj v. Lil Wayne v. Neo Success

So, there's a back story here. Now listen, jj's Ecstacy already samples lil Wayne's now classic Lollipop beat, although jj takes it a different direction entirely than Mr. Weezy himself. Then Neo Success rolls along, has a creative moment, and says, "Hey mom, would it be okay if I mash up the original Lollipop with jj's Ecstasy, instead of doing my algebra homework?" Thank heavens mama Neo Success said "Yes, yes you can!"

I figure I'll post both jj's Ecstasy and the Neo Success mix, so the above story becomes more than just words. This is real life!

Thom Yorke v. XXXchange

XXXchange, Spank Rock's producer, takes the title track off Thom Yorke's solo album and gives it a bit more energy. Yorke's vocals are that much prettier when layered with some kicking beats.

Enjoy!

And why not plug our next party...

IndieGoGo : Laundry

I admit it, I am quite the romantic. Here's a short film my sister sat me down to watch, which I thought was pretty amazing. Take a peek at IndieGoGo as well, where you get the chance to fund a filmmaker, artist or specific creative project you believe in. The idea of crowd funding is very cool, very new and worth supporting...

Iyaz

Played this one last night as well. Replay is a tried and true lady killer. For whatever reason, the girls just started moving, shaking, hopping and laughing. And for dudes who want to hate, have fun standing against the wall...alone.

Iyaz - Replay

Holy Ghost! / Mayer Hawthorne v. Classixx

I played both of these tracks last night, so I figured it'd be a good thing to post them today. Why not, right?

Bon Iver / Skinny Friedman

Bon Iver's For Emma, Forever Ago is without a doubt my defining album of 2009. On my flight home from New York on the day of my father's heart attack, October 18, 2008, I sat alone in a window seat toward the back of the plane, staring out into space and deep into my heart. On that 6 hour flight, I grew from a boy to a man, with Bon Iver's For Emma, Forever Ago on repeat the entire flight, providing the soundtrack to my rite of passage. Comforting, honest and true, his music inspired a type of focus and strength needed for my new responsibilities at home and in life.

Over one year removed from that day, I am pleased to return to Bon Iver with my eyes and ears tuned to what lies ahead. The pulse Skinny Friedman adds to Bon Iver's Blood Bank gives an energy to the seriousness of the song, and resonates perfectly with my outlook right now. My mother is strong, my family is strong, I am strong, and with love in our hearts, we move forward carrying dad's example. Life is truly an amazing thing...

Here's to growing up, growing honest and growing aware of how beautiful it is to be alive. Thank you dad, love you.

Erase All Texts

After a good and long break, I'm back at it again on Thursday nights. Happy New Year San Francisco! I'll see you at the bar, on the dance floor and all points in between.
